About the Jam Sessions
FOG holds weekly "jam sessions" to learn new music, practice old tunes from our current repertoire, and exchange tunes, tips, techniques, and tales. Jams start about 7:15 pm and usually end around 10:30 pm.
Visitors, both players and listeners, are always welcome; you don't have to be a member of FOG to participate. Instrumentalists at all levels of ability are welcome: everyone starts as a beginner! And We love an audience!
During our non-performance season (November through May) and other times as possible, on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month, the first hour is a "learner's jam." We play tunes from our current repertoire at slower tempos and with extra repetitions. This is a great way to improve your skills and to learn tunes.
Technique help is aimed at fiddlers but other instruments provide welcome rhythm support. For information, ask any of the FOG directors.
Please call the FOG hotline (585 234-3582) to confirm location; occasionally, there are last-minute changes.
